Many things have changed in the Philippines. Few presidents have passed. Some EDSA revolutions have succeeded, also some not. Circumstances we can not forget as Pinoy: coup d’etat, accidents, floods, earthquakes and so forth . Lots of changes in the environment, MRT, C5, Baywalk at Manila Bay and several high-rise buildings. Jobs provide high income in the country came like call centers.
What makes a Filipino Different from other races?
1. Bagoong- food that is for Filipinos is very delicious and when cooked is truly cling to the curtains, but for us is so good and yummy especially when deep with kare-kare.
2. Meryenda- Where can you see a person that when having snack makes five times a day and sometimes takes more? That makes a Pinoy.
3. Pasalubong- in any corner of the Philippines, other parts of the world, we pinoy dont forget the ones we love to give presents. This result even five more exist baggage.
4. Balikbayan Box after Pasalubong. Where do you see the foreigners at major airports in the world with big box? Once opened, surely the farthest relatives have soap, coffee and Corned Beef. (It’s like we don’t have it here).
5. Sawsawan- this comes with delicious meals in our dining room. Our meal is not complete without fish sauce, fish sauce-Mansi, vinegar, spicy vinegar, soy sauce, bagoong, etc..
6. Paliligo 2-3 times a day even winter in other countries we are still bathing.
7. Po and Opo- the word mark of respect for older and have more authority. No other race have this.
8. Kamayan-style – eating meals that uses hands instead of using spoon. Together with dried fish, tomatoes, bagoong and with one foot on chair. Yumyum
9. Tabo- I think only Filipino uses tabo when taking a bath or going to the toilet. No more tissue for us.
10. Jollibee- wherever you are, for sure you will miss Jollibee. Lucky for you (if you are in another country) if you are close to areas with Jollibee.
There are plenty of things that separates Filipinos to other nations. Others are beautiful, others are annoying, but we accept it because we are Filipinos and they are part of our culture.
